Offering ARCs ☺️

Hey guys, book 3 in my Cage of Lies Saga: Broken is going to be released on January 31st and I’m offering you all the opportunity to have an ARC in exchange for a review! And if you haven’t read the first two books in the series I’m more than happy to give you a copy of those to review too!

Free books and To review or not to review – why does it help and what can you do?

It has been nearly 3 months since my debut novel Chained was released and I have been very fortunate to receive a number of reviews for it on amazon and goodreads and a lot of them are down to the wonderful people I have met here through my blog! However, following those initial reviews and despite continuing sales, the ammount of new reviews has dwindled.

 Why does this matter? I hear you cry, well I’ve prepared a little something to explain why…

  
There are lots of books out there, this much is true,

They’re written for readers – people like you! 

If you finish a story and it touched your heart, 

a little review is the easy part,

Just a tap of your finger and a short line of praise, 

can excite an author on the darkest of days!

  
If something you read made you break down and cry, 

Or a there’s a character you just wish would die,

Or perhaps you’re in love with a character you met,

And there’s a follow up book you can’t wait to get,

The author’s done their job in making you care,

You could write a review and leave it somewhere!

  
Now everyone knows it can’t all be good,

If you could please everyone then everyone would,

No author sets out to make you feel bad,

The passion they have should make no one sad,

But if they write something you really enjoy,

Your reviewing skills should be set to deploy!

  
And everyone knows that your time is short,

But tiny reviews can give a great report,

Even three little words like ‘I loved it’ will do,

With a simple star rating which shows that it’s true,

This small act of kindness will go a long way,

To making an author have a great day!

  
We write because we love to read like you,

And reviews can help all our wishes come true,

It’s a sad truth but without good reviews,

Sales come slowly and that’s bad news,

It’s not about begging but just the same,

But a few great reviews can change the whole game!

  
So when it comes down to it, what I’m trying to say,

Is that books gain momentum by reviews going their way,

So I hope this inspired you to help an author out,

Because that’s what this post is really about!

And if more specifically you’d like to help me,

I’m willing to give you my books for free!

Free!

Tomorrow, my second book Linked is going to be released and in celebration my first book Chained is going to be free for the day! 

  
And if you feel like really helping me out, I’ll be doing a post about this tomorrow on my Facebook page and a like and share would really help me get the word out! 😍 it’s tough promoting a new book and I’ve been very lucky so far with my sales and reviews but I would love for even more people to find out about Chained and even better: for them to get their copy for free!

Cover reveal!

Okay, so this is the worst kept secret in the history of secret keeping not least because I’ve actually gone through two covers 🙈 but this is the final version and though it’s been on goodreads, amazon and been used in several reviews already I haven’t actually done the reveal yet! (I’m going to blame it on my hectic schedule with publishing day looming but I’m also going to blame it on my cat Hugo who distracts me by wanting cuddles all the time)

The High School Stereotypes Book Tag 💄🏈


I’ve been tagged to do this by Melanie and I’m looking forward to giving it a go! Check out her blog – you’ll be glad that you did ☺️ My method for these tags is to go with whatever comes to kind first and not overthink it so if some of answers are a bit odd, that’s why lol

1. The Mean Girl

 

Isabel Lightwood in The Mortal Instruments – this is more a first impression than a lasting one and I actually really love her. But right off the bat I can easily imagine her turning to any non-Shadow Hunter and doing her very best ‘you can’t sit here’ in glorious mean girl perfection

2. The Dumb Jock

 

Emmett Cullen from Twilight – he’s the kind of dumb jock I’d wanna be friends with though, he could totally beat up my enemies for me 😊

3. The Bully

 

Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter books – I don’t think I have to explain this one. Is it okay that I kinda had a crush on him? No? I guess I didn’t then 😳

4. The Bad Boy

 

Ronan from the Raven Cycle – he’s just so bad and he really, really, really doesn’t care and it’s probably wrong but it makes him so hot lol if you haven’t read these books do it, do it now!

5. The Girl With The Bad Reputation

 

Clarke from the 100 – she’s a condemned criminal so I think that covers the bad reputation and I LOVE her, read the book and watch the show! Seriously… SERIOUSLY!

6. The Geek

 

Hermione from the Harry Potter books – if there was ever any doubt that geeks are cool then Hermione fixed that! She’s the best and there’s no reason for anyone to doubt it 😍

7. The Drama Geek

 

Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games – basically because she plays up to cameras and fakes a relationship to win votes so if that’s not a drama geek then I’m not sure what is (I’m English so this one may be going over my head) 😋

8. The Band Geek

Merry and Pippin from Lord of the Rings – I just couldn’t think of anyone else but they do love singing and don’t care who knows it!

9. The Wannabe

 

Bella Swan from Twilight – her wanting to be a vampire is pretty much the story for the first three and a half books lol so wannabe just made me think of her!

10. The Stoner/Slacker

 

Robert Baratheon from Game of Thrones – he slacked off so badly that he screwed up the security of the throne and threw the whole realm onto turmoil – nuff said lol

Book hangovers, that awful moment when you realise all of your new friends don’t really exist 😭

You’ve all been there, you finish a book (or even worse complete a series) just to be spat back out into the real world without so much as a farewell. 

There’s something dreadfully final about completing a journey through a piece fiction that no amount of re-reading can cure. 

You miss your fictional family! Sure, they’re all still there, living their adventures between the pages but where are you? On your way to school or work, talking to your friends and families about trite things like what’s for dinner or who’s used the last sheet of toilet paper. 

‘No!’ Screams your subconscious. ‘I was saving the world this morning and falling in love last night!’ Where’s the justice? Where’s the closure? And why doesn’t anyone understand that you can’t unload the dishwasher because the whole world just ended!

For all you fellow book hangover sufferers I want you to know that I feel your pain. We can come together and share our angst… 

I am currently suffering with two particular hangovers that haven’t shifted despite me reading multiple books since they were caused. 

The first was the end of the Divergent series which sent me into a hysterical rage. I actually threw the book across the room, making my cat glare at me and causing my husband to ask if I had serious psychological issues.

The second has a more hopeful outlook. I am eternally reliving the world of Celaena Sardothien, I ask people ‘what do you think will happen next?’ They push their shaping carts away from me quickly, taking their children but the hand. But that’s okay. Because September is coming and then I’ll get some answers! 😊
